A dental implant is an artificial root that holds a tooth or "crown" in place. The ANKYLOS dental implant system that we are using has a 16 year clinical trial study in Germany, and the beauty of this system is that most cases, if the bone is good, can be loaded immediately with a tooth. The previous implant systems available in the US needed to remain in the bone for several months before the tooth could be attached, and now, as a bonus, the price is more affordable. Also, the insurance companies are beginning to realize that implants are more predictable, and easier to clean than fixed bridges; therefore, they are more cost effective in the long term, so many are beginning to cover the cost of the implant. After practicing dentistry for 35 years, 30 of that as a root canal specialist, I can confidently say that the ANKYLOS system is the "best" way to replace a missing tooth. 25 years ago I was a pioneer in the ceramic implant systems; however, they were too brittle for use in the mouth, and many snapped off under normal function. The ANKYLOS system is titanium, and is very strong, thereby allowing for normal chewing pressures without breakage. As mentioned previously, the implants system is much easier to clean that a fixed bridge, and the implant can not decay like the anchor teeth for a bridge. We shall be more than happy to consult with you to see if the ANKYLOS system is best for your tooth replacement. The procedure
would involve local anesthetic, a painless shot, and would take about 30
to 40 minutes. In most cases, we would place a nice looking temporary tooth
in place immediately afterwards, so you would leave the office with a tooth
in place. The laser incisions that we make have minimal bleeding and heal
very quickly. We think you will be pleasantly surprised, and the fee for
this service will range from $1,900.00 to $2,100.00 depending on the complexity
of your particular case. Most of the implant systems available today require
months of healing time, and at a substantially higher cost.
